I'd like to brag for a minute on PSVue's DVR

I know a lot of people debate PSVue vs. DTV Now vs. Sling and to be honest I've only had PSVue for maybe 6 months but the DVR is totally a game changer.
For those who don't have PSVue, the DVR is not like your normal cable DVR like with Cox where you select a particular episode at a certain time to record. Instead, you add your favorite shows to your My Shows lineup where it stores a months worth of that show combined with the available On Demand selections for that show. There's no limit to the amount of shows you can add to My Shows since they're all stored on the cloud.
For those with kids, it's a game changer. We have roughly 15 of her favorite shows on there and there's always 15-20 episodes available to play continuously.
I know Cox and Tivo probably have these features as part of their DVR, but the way it's formatted with PSVue makes it so convenient. And for $35/month is totally worth it. I remember paying an extra $15/month with Cox for like 50 hours of DVR space.

I like it too, but it's got some improving to do. Having both On Demand and DVR can make it pretty confusing to know which episodes you have or haven't watched. I'm not sure how it decides whether to show you On Demand vs. DVR options, but if you had been watching it the other way you just don't get to see what you had watched before. And if you go back and forth between the 2... It also defaults to the latest episode instead of the last one you watched.

I forget which show, but it would only offer me the On Demand version the day after it aired instead of the DVR version, but I was still able to fast forward through the shorter commercials. The DVR function is why I stuck with Vue over DTVNow.

Can you FF through commercials?

If you are watching on the DVR you can FF, if you are watching On Demand you can't. I believe the DVR option usually shows up first, often right after the episode airs.

I thought I would miss DVR when I got rid of cable. But Kodi rid me of those worries.

My biggest issue with cutting the cord is having some kind of replacement for DVR. It seems like on demand for current shows isn't quite there yet but glad to hear things like this are getting better.

For me it is only certain channels. Just like some you can't fast forward. I don't know if this has anything to do with Sony.

I cut the cord as soon as Vue came out. I don't miss a thing. The cloud is unlimited. You don't have to delete things to make room. Like LSU football games and English premier league games in HD would always take up so much space on the DVR.
Now I record every NCAA football game and every soccer game and don't have to worry about it. They just added mlb network too.

I think I have fast forwarded on some on demand shows. The only real problem is dvr cutting off before the ends of shows which they had fixed for a while by adding like 10 minutes onto the end.

Pro Tip:
When watching TWD on Sunday night...I no longer need to panic to have to wait till 9pm for the DVR version to come out...If I'm late tuning in on Vue...I simply start up the episode live and click pause then fast track all the way to the beginning with one swipe on the AppleTV remote. Now I can fast forward through commercials without having to wait for the episode to stop airing live.
