So the RCA worked, but I have a very low hum coming out of the subwoofer.

You most likely need a ground loop isolator (RCA). You will also need another short RCA cable to go from amp->rca->isolator->rca->sub.

Ground loops are caused when two pieces of equipment are connected electrically (via your RCA cable) but are plugged into different power outlets on different circuits.

You can verify that this is your problem by picking up a cheap "cheater" plug, the socket adapters that don't have a ground prong. If the humming stops, the ground loop is your problem. The cheater plug should **NOT** be used as a permanent solution. It's just a cheap and quick test before plunking down more money on an isolator.

Where can i find this in Baton Rouge? Having anything shipped takes 2 days longer than expected return date.

Talked to the guy yesterday. They are going to try and come out today and organize the closet better. I'll have them look at my connections for the subwoofer as well, while they are out there.

Quite possible they have a ground loop isolator on hand.

Just don't let them cheat and start removing the ground from your plugs.

Pair of pliers not an acceptable tool to eliminate ground loop?
