Anyone else running these thermostats and having problems with the geo fencing? Mine started about 2-3 weeks ago. I was at my office and the alert keep popping up on my phone that it sees I crossed the geo fence but could not change my settings. Now the geo fence only works if everybody opens the Honeywell app after we leave the house. I called tech support and the poor soul they have solving problems doesn't know how their product is supposed to work. She keep telling me that is correct you have to open the app for it to recognize your location. After three calls I finally got someone higher up that knew of the problem. He took all the info that was going on and said he would send me an email and that someone higher up then him would be getting back with me.

Just was wonder if anyone else is experiencing any problems with their thermostats.

Well I really hadn't touched mine since I stalled them 8 months ago. I would get a notice every morning when me or my wife would cross the geo fence and they would go into away setting and then again in the afternoon when we would be going home and crossed and they would go into home setting. Now it only does it if the app is open on the phones.

I guess I'll try and call again to see if they are getting anywhere with the fix.

I really would hate to shite can $700 in thermostats and sensors and have to go back to Nest.

did your phone get a recent update? i've found my android won't always send me notifications if it decides to remove an app from memory and when i click on it i get tons of notifications at once.

possibly an update to your honeywell app might be causing it?

so many variables here but your physical thermostat probably isn't one of them if you haven't updated the firmware or anything on it.

My phone did update to 15.2.1 last week but that was after all the problems started.

I'm not sure if or when the app updated.

As for as the thermostat firmware. They asked what it was and said it was up to date.

The main reasons I bought the T9 for our new house was because of the geo fence feature.

All the reviews I saw and read were how great it was because it uses true geo fencing vs Nest which just sees when your phone connects to your WiFi and switches the thermostats. (But hey it worked)

I'm now wishing I would have stayed with Nest even if everybody says they are garbage it will harm your system and is owned by Google (which is the main reason I started looking to switch). I had a Nest gen2 pretty much right after it was released and once we found out you had to have a common wire hooked up I had no problem till I sold the house last year. So that thermostat was about 8-9 years old.

Oh well I guess you live and learn.

Just realized mine was no longer sending me those alerts. Turns out I had to set the privacy, location services to always. It was set to only when using app. If not on always it only tracks when you have the app open and running.

I’ve been thought the app settings with three different supposedly tech support people and two of them I had to explain how background app refresh works. When the last on told that the app had to be open for background refresh to work. I almost pulled the old lady esurance commercial quote on her.
