Home TV antenna issues

I'm cutting the cord and tried putting up an antenna on two TV's for the local channels. I live in Covington, so I'm 40 miles from the NOLA TV stations. My antenna had a range of 50 miles with a booster. In short, it didn't work so any advice would be appreciated.

That is in perfect conditions.
My antenna is a 60 mile. I am only 15 to 20 miles away and I can't get certain channels.

Where are you installing the antenna. I am in Slidell and put one in the attic and have not troubles picking up stations.

Yes, there are she devices for antennas. Tivo is a popular one. Channel Master has a dvr. Tablo makes a device that integrates with Roku, Apple TV and maybe some other devices.

I had a small antenna but I am returning it and getting a larger one for the attic.

Have one of these in my attic. I get BR stations in Lafayette pretty well. No amp.
