My mom died about a decade ago and we havent done anything with her camera equipment... she had a Nikon D300 and sigma lenses that were pretty expensive. Was looking for where the best place around Baton Rouge would be to find out what this is worth, how to possibly use it, or sell it.

Any suggestions? thanks

Probably $90-100. Look it up on eBay. Not what they’re selling for, but what ppl are buying and bidding them at.

You can look on KEH or MPB websites to get an idea of resale value. What they would offer of course be less than retail. MPB has one D300 listed for $144.

Your best bet, if you have interest, is to play around with the equipment and see if you like the process. If you do, then you can start looking for more current equipment if you decide you want to pursue the hobby.

They used to be a pretty penny back in the day new, but are obsolete tech now. It depends entirely on the condition and shutter count (upload a jpeg taken with it to camerashuttercount . com and it will tell you).

I snagged a D300 in rough condition on ebay earlier in the year for $60. A good one with lower shutter count will go from $100-$200 probably.

The lenses it depends entirely on what type, but maybe another couple hundred for them together.

Most run of the mill camera equipment depreciates quickly. Just use it and enjoy it.
