Engenius EAP1200h

Wanting to try to extend my wifi signal.

I'm trying to set this up but can't figure it out?

Says to plug in AP to computer via Ethernet and assign IP address to router and computer, then go to web browser and login to the AP

I'm having issues getting this to work on my Mac, can anyone help?

Plug computer directly to access point.

Go into your local area connecting ipv4 properties. Make note of your existing ip address settings (probably automatically obtain...). Change ip address on computer to 192.168.1.2 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.1, DNS isn't needed.

Open a browser window

Enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar

Use the default username and password provided.

Once in the AP interface, go to IP Settings under system and change the IP address to a free address on your regular network (or you can use the obtain address automatically option, and log on to your router later to get the IP address that was assigned.

Once you make this change, accept the setting, then you have to go to save/reload to apply it. Once that's done, you can plug the access point into your switch, or router, and return your computer IP settings back to what they were originally.

Then you can enter the address you just assigned to the access point into the browser window to finish configuring it.

I would think that 192.168.1.1 is used by my router

Forget your router for the moment. You have to plug the access point directly into your computer with a network cable. The default IP address of Engenius access points is 192.168.1.1, which conflicts with your router. Since your home network uses the same subnet as the access point, you need to disconnect, or disable your wireless.

Since you're bypassing your router, you have to manually configure your IP address on your computer to 192.168.1.2.

You can't set the access point up until you change it's IP address. Do the steps I wrote above. Manually change the access point to 192.168.1.250 and THEN connect it to your router and change your computer back to obtain address automatically and enable wireless again.
