Help me pick a surface pro / confirm it’s right for me

I’m a young professional in the business field (excel not required fwiw). I use my work computer running Windows.
I haven’t had a laptop in the last 2 years because it broke and I work long enough hours at my desk.
I’m getting to the point of needing to do remote work both in the office during meetings and out of the office to reduced time spent there.
My ideal budget is around a top end of $1200.
Quick google search showed some for less and a few for more.
I run a bunch of programs at the same time, need a ton of windows open, hard drive is not that imperative due to server storage if need be. I also need to run Microsoft office. The portability is a huge plus for me.
I don’t game, but I also want this for leisure, streaming, and general use.
I’m willing to spend up to $1,500, even flirt with $2000, if need be.
Can someone advise me on the proper surface pro I should get and best place to purchase from whether it is in person or online? Or, if I am dumb not to get a Mac? I will listen too, I just don’t know any better.
TLDR: up to $1200 preferred budget or less. Will spend up to $1500-2000 if need be. Want it to be fast and be able to run a lot of programs at once. Needs to be business based and be half time if not more as my personal laptop. Portability is a huge plus for me. Am I dumb not to get a Mac for this much?
Thanks.

Surface Book 2, 13.5" has a GTX1050, 15" has a GTX1060.
They are expensive, but well worth it. They are in a league of their own.

I will echo the surface book 2.
I have the original surface book without dedicated graphics. It is really nice and versatile.

You will get more use out of the laptop when it is in laptop mode. The problem with the Surface Pro is the keyboard. It is great when on a desk, but terrible on your lap. This is what makes the Surface BOOK so much better. It has a real keyboard that disconnects. It works just like a real laptop, and when you want it to be a Win tablet - you can make it that.
Truth be told, tablet mode Windows is nothing to write home about. I have disconnected my keyboard maybe 4 times since I have owned it (December purchase). I opt for the ipad when I want the convenience of a tablet.

I have the Surface Laptop and love it. Config I bought was 1599.00. i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.
Same size and lighter than a Mac Book Air.

Posting from a surface pro 3, and I love it. I have used it for work for the last year and a half. The keyboard gripe is real (for lap use) but I'm rarely in that situation.
FYI, i use some pretty resource heavy programs (navisworks, autcad) for engineering and construction and it handles it fine.
