Has anyone ever used AfterShokz Aeropex headphones before?

I'm not a fan of ear buds and I'm looking for some headphones to wear while exercising. This would also eliminate any over the ear headphones given the material used isn't good for sweating.

I want to know if the sound on these is comparable to over the ear or bud headphones. Seems like other people could easily hear your music if the volume was turned up enough.

I have the $80 version and like them. I wear them mainly at work but have used them at home on a jog. No complaints about the sound they provide. The problem I have now is that we have to wear masks at work and having both on at the same time for a while hurts my ears.

The headphones aren't uncomfortable? Apparently they use bone conduction technology, so does that mean they fit tight around your ears to transmit the vibrations?

No, they are fine most of the time except when wearing a mask at work for a while. Much more comfortable than those old over the top of the ear headphones. Not sure how the bone conduction tech works, but there are small speakers in them.

I have the $150 model. I have had them for a few years and they have worked flawlessly. They don't actually have speakers but they hook over your ears and have a vibrating pad that sits right in front of your ear canal and vibrate against the boney tissue to produce sound that your ears can sense.

I find the sound to be good, but at high volume, they can tickle a bit until you get used to them. They will leak sound at high volume somewhat.

I used them on long bike rides and it's nice to be able to hear approaching traffic for safety. I also use them to listen to podcast as I am going to sleep and this doesn't disturb my wife (no pics).

How does this technology compare to standard headphones? I can't tell if people buy it specifically for the novelty of being about the hear whats going on around you while listening to music/podcast etc., or if the sound is good.

Sound being "good" is completely subjective. What is "good" to you? My brother has a pair and I have used them before. Is the sound "good" enough to listen to music and such? Sure. Is the sound as good as a $500 pair of Bose? Probably not. Is that important to you? Maybe. These are designed with the goal of creating headphones that allow users to also hear what is going on around them as the primary goal, these are not designed as some novel way to produce sound better than traditional headphones. The best tech for "good" sound still lies in headphones that fit over/in your ears.

My wife has these. I had actually been eyeing them for a while myself. She uses them most days and likes them. I borrow them when I can. The sound isn't as good as some of the above average headphones, but its definitely not bad. I really like them personally. Biggest issue is that the battery doesn't last as long as regular earbuds, but its not that much worse. I enjoy the whole unobstructed ear and hearing the outside world part, but honestly my favorite thing about them is listening to stereo music. It can be kind of trippy the way your brain interprets hearing the audio. If you've got some songs that really split tracks between left/right the effect is more pronounced than regular headphones.

As for your concern about noise, unless you've got them near max vol, no one can hear them.
