Google calendar alternatives?

I am trying to move out of the google calendar ecosystem as much as possible. I use the calendar function pretty frequently, but would be up for moving if there are some similar alternatives. Anyone have any recommendations?

i just changed my default calendar over to my Outlook account since i find more functionality in Outlook regarding calendar options. I had always used my gmail as default on cell for continuity with contacts and calendar. But i find functionality of Outlook calendar a helluva lot more useful for my needs.

I still need to figure out a solution since ditching Google. Look into calDAV servers.

A $5/month nextcloud VM is a popular.

Sync client for Android.

I self host mine via calDAV server on my Synology NAS, but there are similar setups assuming you don't have a NAS (but still would want to self host). NextCloud would be a sort of 'selfhosted gsuite alternative' as NC can do a lot of stuff, but isn't the most lightweight of solutions. DavX on Android is what I use to sync. It works great. If you're not looking to self-host anything (including managing a cloud VM), then you'd probably just want to figure out which cloud provider you dislike less than google (Microsoft, etc.).
