He basically uses it to surf the web and insists on using the office version of Outlook for emails (my mother-in-law also gets her email through the same interface). His current desktop is old and incompatible for any new Microsoft updates.

Recently our office has gotten “micro computers” for our conference rooms. Is this an option? Do they come with Microsoft software downloaded?

Laptops and iPads are not an option. He struggles with his iPhone.

Check out Costco. They have a 14" HP Touchscreen laptop for $250. I am 74 and I also use Outlook for e-mails.

Sorry did not see the part about laptops. I am 74 and use a laptop but with a 24" monitor. I also use a backlit keyboard as I do not like the laptop keyboards.

Dell has some all-in-one Inspiron Refurbs for around $500.00.

Dell Micro Computer with Windows 10 Pro for $148. Actually quite a deal for the specs. 7th gen Intel processor, 256gb SSD, 8 GB DDR4 ram.

In fact, here's an HP one for $99 on Amazon. Even comes with a keyboard and mouse. Downside is 4th gen processor, 8GB DDR3 ram, 500GB of HDD. Fairly outdated.

Awesome! They live in another state. I’ll have to somehow figure out what kind of plugs his monitor, keyboard, printer has. Hopefully all USB. The bundle is a good idea for that reason.

Ive gotten a few of these micro pcs for testing out and they’re great…used on as recommendation for a client who was out of state and needed me to replace her elderly mom’s desktop…she loved the idea of it’s small size and functionality…perfect use case…would just have to acquire Office

Here's a list of the OptiPlex 3050 ports. 6 USB ports, including the front, 3.5 mm audio port, 1 HDMI port, 1 DisplayPort, 1 VGA port. If his monitor and cable is DVI, it's as simple as getting a new cable/adapter.

Most keyboards and mice made in the last 20+ years use USB, but if his use the legacy PS/2 port (green/purple colored), I'd recommend upgrading. You can find a mouse and keyboard for less than $30. The PS/2 port at this point is pretty much phased out. The reason they are still included these days is because they don't require drivers like USB ports.

For the printer, a parallel port is optional on this model. If it doesn't come with it, you can use a parallel-USB adapter if you don't want to upgrade anything else.
