Detects and connects on my 2.4 but can’t find my 5

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Yup. But it's now looking like it's several of my devices. I just got the new firetv in and it won't see my 5gz.

I'm thinking it's something to do with my pace router.

Same for me, was my normal stick but I also got the new FireTV in today and it’s the same way.

I’ve noticed that sometimes it will be connected via 5GHz, sometimes via 2.4GHz.

Doesn’t seem to be an option to adjust it.

This is what worked for me.

I had to download Wifi Analyzer on my phone and check to see which channels were getting less traffic. Changed my router to use dedicated channels instead of auto scanning.

It seems to be working now.

The only things I have connected to my 5G are the firestick and the Mac. Everything else moves around, and in a long house the other devices would lose 5G and switch to 2.4, so I just connected them to just that network. I can stream music in the back of my yard cutting grass on the 2.4. I can't keep the phone connected to the 5 if I walk upstairs. It is much faster, but much smaller, at least with my Archer.

My FireTV hasn't had trouble picking up 2.4 or 5.0 ghz so I don't have much to offer.

This doesn't specifically answer your question, but I use this bad boy for my fire TV:

It's a "powerline network extender" that uses the electrical wiring to deliver about 80% to 90% of your internet speed directly to your device. We only use it for FireTV because it only comes in a set of 2 (1 to plug into your router/modem and the other to plug into your device). With our router, we only received about 40% of the actual internet speed, so this has been a huge improvement for us with streaming.
