My son is building his PC and this is the last component he needs. Don’t want to pay a premium to pirates on eBay, and Newegg is making everyone participate in their shuffle because inventory.

Any other leads we should explore?

Newegg has the 5800x in stock and a few more. Is he stuck on the 5900x?

They all appear to be resellers marking it up about 20%.

Go camp out and pray they get a shipment at a microcenter. 5900x is an extremely desirable chip, you and a ton of other people are looking to get one. I’m not anymore because I am posting through one.

If it’s just for gaming, get a 5800x.

Chinese New Year happens around now, so the factories are gonna be shuttered and stock is gonna be down for awhile too.

I agree. Just settle for a 5800x. It’s a great CPU.

As is the 5600X. More than what your son needs for gaming honestly.
