I've been carrying 2 phones for a number of years. Strongly considered getting the newer iPhones to have this capability, but I've been on Android a while and am used to it. I picked up the Note 20 Ultra last year at release and was very close to returning it and getting the iPhone 12 Max for eSIM and because the Note had some connectivity issues.

Well, multiple firmware updates later and the phone is working like it should and then yesterday I downloaded the latest update and it came with eSIM support. Stoked, I went to the TMO store today and spent about 20 minutes there while he figured out how to do it with support. Made my primary # the eSIM and my work # the physical SIM and it works perfect. Crazy how it took this long.

Long story short, if you need dual SIM on Android, it's available on the Samsung Note Ultra.

Was able to use on my unlocked iPhone 12 with Airola. AT&T/T-mobile dual sims.

If phone is locked you have to use only your current carrier (I think).

For a while, I just used the Burner app and kept that number.

Can’t use 5G yet with two lines active on some. Can only use one data (hotspot) at a time.

What I am looking for is ability to have two hotspots going and bond them together with Connectify. Haven’t found ability to do this.

Is this the future? Been looking at a cryptocurrency called dent wireless that's in this industry.

Good to know. Not sure TMO had it though. I've been wanting dual SIM for quite a while and they were saying only iPhone had it. I'm loving this feature, I can easily call or text by switching between the SIMs from the desired number I want. 2 different voicemails as well.

Yeah, it doesn't even seem like a choice, it's just one hotspot and it doesn't show a SIM next to it like calling or texting does.

I mean, not everyone needs it. It's been popular in Europe for quite a while because of the ease of going to different countries and just simply popping in a local SIM. Only uses for Americans are people like me who have 2 phones for personal and work. Also I do international travel and it's good for folks like that as well.

This should be live in iOS 14.5 when it’s released in a few days

Saw that. Dual data, dual active may never actually happen. I have a super specific need for it that most people can get around other ways,

Oddly, I found ATT had changed one of my plans to not accessing 5G even though it was previously.

Yeah, but it’s a Qualcomm issue for now, I think they’ve even promoted it on their x55 modem spec sheets, but haven’t developed the firmware for it until recently.
