Error message “Check Sp Wires”

My system:
Yamaha RX-A880 (brand new, recently upgraded less than two days ago). Replaced Pioneer VSX-1131. Note, this error message has now appeared on both units.
5.1 surround sound, Paradigm speakers and subwoofer. I also have two outdoor speakers underneath patio ceiling, Paradigm as well.
These speakers outside along with inside speakers all have worked without issue, until recently when error message began on older Pioneer unit.
I can temporarily get sound on the outdoor speakers, so I am assuming they are hooked up correctly. Unfortunately after about 3 to 4 seconds of play, the new receiver shuts off and when I turn it back on I see the “Check Sp Wires” message.
I’ve checked all wires inside to the back of the A/V receiver. No splices and all wiring is in good shape.
Could the wiring outside go bad or deteriorate over time? Note, house is approximately 11 years old and wiring was done in build. I am at my wits end. Looking for suggestions.
Or if anyone can recommend a professional that can troubleshoot in greater BTR area, I’m willing to consider paying.

Not sure what kind of lengths you’re looking at from speaker to your equipment inside but I’d think you could get enough speaker wire to run to you outdoor speakers (just through a window or door) to check to see if new wires fixes the problem. There could also be a problem in the speaker itself, maybe oxidation on the connectors or even something on the internal connections.

It’s funny you post this today because I had the same error on my Yamaha RX-Vsomethingoranother last night while watching a movie. It showed the error then turned off. It’s a 12 year old unit so I ran to best buy today and got a new RX-V680 receiver, Yamaha in ceiling speakers and a klipsch 12 in sub.
