DSLR Camera Suggestion for Beginners

I don’t know much about photography (lighting, aperture, etc.), but I do appreciate good pictures. My wife and I have been traveling quite a bit, so it would be nice to capture our trips with high quality images.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Take an intro photography class and learn how to compose a shot. That will improve your pics far more than a DSLR.
Seriously, the first thing to do is to learn how to take a good shot with *any* camera. A pro will take better pics with a phone than a beginner will with a DSLR.

Get this book
Get a Canon T6 or Nikon D5300. Something along those lines. Pentax K-70
Read as much online as possible.
Don't get a really sophisticated camera. All the menu choices will just confuse you. Get something you can learn about exposure control first and run with it.
I've got a Fujifilm Xt-1 which is mirrorless and it's perfect for beginners and novices. All the dials are old school.
Also, the kit lens that comes with it is the best kit lens you can buy.

Skip the DSLR and go mirrorless. Something like the Panasonic G series cameras or Olympus OM-D E-M10. Good lenses are smaller and cheaper. The system is smaller and less cumbersome. Image quality is close to a push. At least not enough you would notice or be able to take advantage of as a beginner.

I played around with a Sony A7. What a fantastic piece of equipment.
