Have a display port cable already ran and the TV only has HDMI ports. Does such an adapter exist for this?

How hard would it be to swap it out with an hdmi cable?

Edit: Most adapters I have seen are only for going from hdmi output to displayport input.

That's all I have seen as well. I could rerun a new cable, just trying to go the easier route if possible.

Yes they do.

I have searched. Can you do me a solid and show me what you have found?

I assume you are talking about this but this is not what I need. This would be what I need if I had an HDMI cable running already.

Not really needed. Just a TV monitor in my office on the wall. Can use desk speakers. Got a new TV and the old one took the display port so the cable plugged directly in.

You have to be careful. Display port protocol is not the exact same as HDMI.

So while you can get connection adapters, you need to be sure of what you are sending down the line and what the TV can handle.

If you are plugging the DP cable into a DP port on the source end, then your TV will likely need to be DP capable. Not all are.

Display port output to HDMI input over a long display port cable?

I have run into several issues. My work has cheap monitors that do not process HDMI video. So if you take an HDMI output, transition to DP, then plug in to monitor, they do not work. Really big PITA when you also have cheap docking stations that only have one DP port and the rest are HDMI.

Yep, this has happened to me a couple of times. Tried to use a display port to hdmi cable (no adapters, just different ends on both) and it didn't work. Something about not being able to up-convert the signal from one to the other.

Also couldn't get it to work on my Mac and had to use a VGA to HDMI and HDMI to USB-C adapter to get it all functioning
