It is actually very desirable. People want normal DVR capabilities and a dedicated remote that works perfectly.

I am holding out for the Disney service. If they add the SEC network, I am dropping DTV Now. I had the service at launch, but they keep increasing the price and it is pissing me off. Same shite they do with DTV.

I enjoy laughing at the AT&T customers in my neighborhood. They recently installed fiber optic and a bunch of the idiots fell for the scam. They were all justifying the slightly higher rates with the claimed improved quality. Now those same people are complaining about poor quality.
I had DirecTV several years ago, maybe 7 or 8 after they fooled me into believing that they had fixed the problem with reception during rain/storms and due to trees. I have no trees that would interfere within about 15 degrees of horizontal so nowhere near in line with the satellite signal. If clouds got in the way, I'd get tiling. They sent SEVEN different technicians out within a 2 month period and nobody could fix it. It's crap. Yes, it's cheaper, but it's crap so it should be. A can of Chef Boyardee is cheaper than dinner at Gino's but it also tastes accordingly.

I have mostly Google everything but no commercial skipping on the DVR, since it's basically OnDemand, was a no go for me.
That's weird. I skip commercials all the time on my recorded shows / sports with YouTube TV

Ya, now that I think about it I bet it was because since I was in trial it hadn't built up the library to record the live shows and give me fast forwarding.
I wanted to try it for stated reasons and having voice control for channels, and most importantly BBC World News on a comparable rate tier to the Vue tier I have that doesn't have it.

If they had changed the name at the same time they screwed up the programming packages, people would only think AT&T is awful.

Satellite internet is the reason. 30 gigs a month doesn't
lend itself to Hulu and such.

I do have fiber optics with AT&T and on that front, they have been flawless. My only option at the time was Comcast and the improvement over Comcast has been phenomenal.
DTV on the other hand, not so much.
