Sorry, but I have uverse and that sounds like political posturing to at least some degree, they aren't nearly that bad. And seriously, if they thought it do you think they're gonna tell the SEC that "we totally kick arse and are going to take over as the only tv provider once the merger's approved and you bitches are just gonna have to deal with it"?
I highly doubt they're going to just disappear after the merger.

it's still a crap shoot though on a home by home/area by area basis, I'm not sure what the success rate is, but some of the custom install guys I know tell me it's below 50% for their clients.

I guess I'm to have one of the techs bring me a third damn Uverse box. The new ones are apparently complete shite. Anyone else experiencing this?

Neither one.
Clearstream 4V Antenna, TiVo OTA DVR, Hulu, apple tv or fire TV/stick with tvmc installed. Way cheaper and way better.

Went through 3 modems and 4 boxes. I cancelled last month. The product is crap and way overpriced.

Ive used both, to me they are nearly the same product. Ive like U-Verses Menus and guide a little better than I did Direct TV. That being said, I'm cutting cord in March because they are overpriced and if my luck continues that means in April they will drop all prices give better service etc
