We got flooded out and severed with Cox. Since we are so far out in the country, we went with Direct TV for 2 years. Since we're about to move back into a nw neighborhood that (rumor is) will have ATT fiber... Has anyone rolled a Direct TV contract into a new service setup with ATT? Is it possible to roll into an 'Internet Only' package from Direct TV? Would like your experience before I toddle down the ATT Stores to talk to those folks. Thanks.

I've had DTV since 1997 and I was a Cox internet customer as well. My 2 bills combined were about $230. I was out of contract and called DTV and asked for a bundle deal with Internet + DTV. What they quoted me wasn't anywhere near what they offered new customers so I called AT&T (over and over until I got someone in the US). They signed me up as a new customer, Bundled DTV and Internet 1000/gigapower. My bill is now somewhere around $130 a month total. The internet discount will run out in 1 year, the DTV price is locked for 2 years. If you sign up for Unlimited Data on your AT&T mobile phone, you get an extra $25 off your DTV bill and free HBO.

Word of caution... Have patience and expect them to screw everything up on your bill & call them incessantly until resolved.

Att and Direct TV are one in the same. They will offer deep discounts when you start "bundling" their services. Just a bit of advice, if you ask a question about any term or condition of a deal they are offering, get the answer in writing with a signature. All ATT reps in store, the online chatter's, and phone reps are human scum who will lie to you even when it is not necessary to close a deal. They have less morales then the main stream media and democratic party combined on a good day.

Both my wife and I have been loyal ATT customers (since Bellsouth/Cingular) and I was an early adopter of their new tech like UVERSE and they still treat me like the red headed step child with leprosy.

They are famous for creating and modifying account numbers when you add or change a service then when you think you have been paying everything in full they will send you a bill for the old account even though they claimed at time of original payment you had cleared the balance on the acct. I was even sent to collections for not returning components that I am currently still useing today and won't fix it because they said it was sent under an account number they opened then closed in 3 months that I never knew about or made payments to (I was still making the payments to my original acct).

I decided to give them 1 more chance before leaving for good because the new unlimited deal with tethering and IPHONE 7 BOGO would allow me and my wife (ATT legacy unlimited) to finally consolidate our ATT bills on 1 acct.

I also agreed to switch to Direct TV over Uverse because of the crazy deals they are offering right now. It didn't take long to become apparent everything they told me they would do was a lie and the deals were nothing like what they presented in person. I shutdown the installer before he started work, and actually called UVERSE yesterday to cancel Internet and TV because they started charging me for uverse cable and direct tv cable at the same address even though a Direct Dish was never installed and I made multiple calls and emails saying I did not want it. Yesterday, I got fed up and called to cancel the UVERSE TV and Internet which they assured me would be done by 12noon that day. I arrived home to cable and internet working as normal.

TLDR-frick ATT/UVERSE/Direct TV any deal you work out get every commitment in writing including "upgrade fees" "connection fees", offers of gift cards, commitments to correct past billing mistakes, and anything else they may offer. Also watch the ACCT numbers carefully, they will play shell games with new/old acct numbers when opening closing and renewing services then come back for payment after you can no longer access your account history from the original online acct because they reset it for your new account number.
