Delaying in receiving group messages

I’ve got an iPhone on at&t and have no issues when using group chats with others who only have iPhone. However, when in group chats with phones others than iPhones, sometimes there will be a delay for hours in receiving the group messages. They will all arrive at once and I’ll have no idea when the messages were actually sent. Anyone else had this issue, and most importantly, found a way to fix it?

Petition apple to open up iMessage for Android...
But seriously, it is a problem with the entire MMS system which is what group texts with mixed os default to. There is currently a push to move away from sms/MMS texting and to RCS which is supposed to be more reliable and with more features across all operating systems
However, this push is moving slowly. Sprint and us cellular have implemented it, Verizon is currently rolling it out, and said all Android device will have it by Q1 of 2019. TMobile and att are behind with no statement as to what their plans are.
Apple has not committed to it either which will put iPhones behind the curve. They will eventually have to adopt it, as SMS will be phased out by the carriers, and then you will have iMessage like features across all devices

This was never an issue for me up until the past 2-3 weeks. I’ve also got AT&T and an iPhone. Everyone else in the group message is receiving texts normally. It’s extremely frustrating.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like nothing we can do about it currently. What a bummer

Yes, not much you can do. The only thing I can think of to speed things up is to switch to carriers who are adopting RCS, and let your old carrier know the reason for the switch.
But that's only for Android as apple has not shown any interest in supporting RCS. Most estimates are showing apple to support it in 2020, once the carriers have fully implemented it and have begun the process for shutting down SMS/MMS.

Nope. Well you could use something like groupme for group chatting.
