Cutting the Cord - Audio Question

Have Eatel cable. I have a Nuvo audio system run throughout the house. I understand Nuvo is discontinued or shutdown but am going to ride it until it dies if I can.
Thinking of going to YT TV or some other streaming service but don’t know how to get Nuvo to TV without the box. At each cable box, the cable from the Nuvo receiver looks like a coax head with an RCA adapter to go into the cable box. I have been told or read the ARC HDMI jack on a TV will handle audio. What l have tried so far is an RCA to HDMI converter on the Nuvo cable ran into the ARC HDMI on TV. Didn’t work.
Not tech savvy at all and would appreciate any suggestions.

I don't know anything about Nuvo products but my first two thoughts are that maybe the TV is sending a signal to the Nuvo receiver that it can't process. So maybe you can try going into the TV settings and changing the audio output to something else. Maybe Dolby Digital or frankly just try all of the options and see if that works.
The other thought is that you need an HDMI to RCA converter (rather than a RCA to HDMI). I'm pretty sure there's a difference and that they are one way. Because the way you've described it, you need to send sound through HDMI to the RCA cable.

Thanks I’ll check the TV audio output.
I’m not sure if I’m describing correctly or not so I’ll illustrate
Setup Now:
Nuvo Receiver>Cable (assume coax based on head)>RCA adapter>cable box RCA jacks
Tried:
Nuvo Receiver>Cable (assume coax based on head)>RCA adapter>RCA to HDMI adapter>TV ARC-HDMI input

A few things to consider:
1. You may have to enable ARC in your TV settings. If not, you may have to turn it off then turn it back on with the HDMI connected.
2. Make sure the HDMI-to-RCA converter you use specifically says it can take an ARC input. ARC is not exactly the same thing as normal audio over HDMI, so I would not expect any old HDMI audio extractor to work as those are typically designed to split the audio off from a “one-way” HDMI signal.
3. A lot of HDMI converters/extractors are pretty cheap Chinese shite so you may get it to work with a different converter.
4. You’ll probably need to make sure that the ARC format in your TV is set to PCM and not Dolby/DTS. Pretty good chance the Chinese converter does not have Dolby/DTS decoders built in, unlike most ARC devices (soundbars and AV receivers).
5. Also if your TV allows you to select stereo/surround for ARC output, you’ll want to set it to 2ch stereo. This may not be an issue because I think 5.1 surround is limited to eARC, and even then I’m not sure if it can handle 5.1 using linear PCM (as opposed to Dolby/DTS). But I would at least check regardless.

I don’t think you should need arc if the Nuvo doesn’t have an hdmi input. The benefit of arc over hdmi is CEC control if your audio source accepts it. That along with more than 5.1 channels but that doesn’t seem to be your issue
I would do optical out of your tv to rca. Nuvo likely has optical input also. You can set tv output to optical, and set it to pcm rather than Dolby (definitely if stereo zone)
Only con is your nuvo app would have to be used to control volume. That would have happen anyway though as there is no hdmi input for CEC to work, unless you have a control system on top of Nuvo
