I was in that boat until 6 months ago.
Cox was my only option.
I dont recommend regular ATT DSL as well.

my internet with cox is $84.
i called about 2 months ago about lowering it, they said they wouldn't, i said i'd cancel, they said do it, i didn't do it.
What i didn't know going into that conversation is that i have only 1 option for internet in my neighborhood. No ATT availalbe, just Cox, so i'm assuming they know this, and will never bargain with me on the internet only.
I called again this weekend to talk about getting a cable/internet bundle. They tried the stupid landline bundle crap and i stopped him and said i could care less what you have to say about it, or even if its cheaper than having the two, i'm not getting a damn landline and you should quit offering the service in general. No homeowner needs a landline in 2018.
ANyways, i wanted the lowest cable package that has ESPN and FoxSports, but just wanted 1 cable card as i wanted to use an HD Homerun as my box. They wouldn't allow that. Said i had to get a Cox box for $8.50/month. So stupid.
It would be nice if i had more than 1 option in my large 30 year old neighborhood in a fairly large city in the USA.

Illegal, too.
ETA: Serious about the "illegal" part. FWIW, I use an HDHR Prime with CableCARD, and I don't rent any damn box. The tuning adapter is free. Here's the FCC page on the rules:
CableCARD: Know Your Rights
In particular:
quote:
Pay only for equipment you have. Your operator must give you a discount on any packages that include the price of a set-top box if you choose to use your own CableCARD-enabled device. FCC Rule 76.1205(b)(5).
Use your own set-top box without extra charge. FCC Rule 76.1205(b)(5)(C). Your cable operator may charge you to lease a CableCARD or tuning adapter, but may not charge you an additional service fee for using your own digital-cable-ready television or set-top box.
(Let's all agree to keep this a secret from Ajit Pai, OK?)

Although you're paying 80$ but you/I get a -10 discount for bundling your tv service.
I actually have it bundled with my cell phone service. I use PSVue for my cable. $45/month. $115 total (no addtional fees, no contract) gives me everything I need for kids, sports, etc. plus the DVR for PSVue is great.
