Cox Internet-New Orleans: Anyone dealing with slow speeds?

We have the Premier Internet Package (up to 150 Mbps). We usually range between 50-75 Mbps, which is plenty fast enough for us. However, for the last few weeks it has been in the 8-12 Mbps range, which is slower than what homeless people get.

Before I get on another call with these assholes, I just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing slower than normal speeds lately.

This is a common issue with Cox everywhere. They put too many people on the same node. You’ll have to get them to go split the node into two. Also you shouldn’t be settling for 50-75 out of 100. You shouldn’t be losing more than 10 from WiFi speed reduction. Tell them to fix their shite or you’re cutting them

Turns out it was my router. I decided to get the Panoramic WIFI and now i'm consistently between 175-195 Mbps.

Are you renting their router? I hated paying the $10/mo and ended up buying a nice router. Picked up the Arris Surfboard 1900 and haven't noticed any reduction in speed. It pays for itself in just over a year compared to renting from Cox.

I am. Typically I avoid monthly fees like this, but I like the fact that the modem and router are one unit, and if I ever have issues, I know exactly where it is coming from. I seem to go through routers about once every year or so for some reason, so I'm fine paying 10 bucks a month and having all issues be dealt with by Cox.
