Cell Phone Plan for Kiddo

I need to get a phone and cell olan for my son. Plan to use an older iPhone. My plan is with Verizon. I'm not under a contract and plan to keep it that way. I'm looking into the options for adding a line to my bill, but thought I'd ask here for other options to consider.

I have my 12y/o daughter on a $7/mo plan with Tello. They use T-mobile's network. It has been perfect for us. Even with limited data amounts, data does not get shut off if the data cap is hit. Speeds are just greatly reduced. So things like location tracking/find my phone still work.

I do Verizon prepaid for my kid. 5GB plan starts at $40/month, then drops as you go for the first few months until you get down to $25/mo.

Our oldest is on our family plan and I regulate his usage using the iPhone family features. He's using an iPhone SE which I bought outright.

Just get him an Apple watch with cellular service, about $5 a month, and no instragram/snapchat.
