One of my kids cars is a 2015 and the On Star like service is being sunseted. The manufacturer is suggesting using HUM through Verizon. Are there any alternatives or suggestions ? The add on OnStar seems $$. Mainly looking for the emergency features related to accidents. Thanks.

apple watch will detect an impact and can automatically call for help. I am sure other smart watches can do the same.

The newer versions of Android (11/12) have a "crash detection" feature in them. It isn't an app, but built into the Android OS. You have to give it a ton of permissions, but it can detect a crash and call 911 for you.
