cannot get pull string through conduit

When i was building my house, i ran a 3/4" flex line from my closet under the stairs to behind my tv. i did install a pull string in it prior to installing it and taped the string to both ends. this weekend i wanted to pull some cat 6 through it and i pulled so hard on the string it broke. I even tried sucking another pull string from both ends and the suction is not making it to either end. i am wondering if the builder broke it somehow. am i screwed and will not be able to use this run?

How long is the run? I'd get a metal fish tape and try to push through.

Exactly what they're made to do, but if your conduit makes a lot of tight twists and turns, you might be out of luck.

put a plastic bag in the pipe and then try to suck that through. With a new string connected.

i have tried this on both ends. the suction is not making it to the other side.
the run is about 30', i have a fish tape, but not that long. i guess i need to see if harbor freight does.

Get a fiberglass fish tape. They're more flexible to get through bends. Not glow rods. Fish tape.

Fish tape, or jet line

If you get a fish tape, bend a nice round head on the lead end.
It’s a 50/50 shot. What do the terminating ends of the flex look like? Are they straight connectors or are they 90s into the box?
Flex conduit isn’t air tight so the whole mouse method (plastic bag and vacuum) may not work too well in that situation.
We were able to run a mouse on a 200’ fun underground with condensation in it. 30’ isn’t anything for a mouse. So you’re either losing too much suction through the pipe or you’re SOL.

This indicates your flex pipe might be cut. A small pipe like that should maintain a suction over that distance. Feeding the fish tape each end may let you identify the problem area if there aren’t too many sharp turns in it.
For $40 you can buy a cool Bluetooth endoscope on amazon. Has about a 10 or 15 foot semi rigid cable. You can maybe see what’s going on. You’ll get color video to your iPhone.
Great tool that you’ll use way more than you ever thought. Even has a hook attachment that allows you to retrieve items after finding them.

i installed the pull string with a shop vac, string, and plastic bag prior to me running the tube through the house. Whit the loss of suction, something is telling me the tube was cut when they were install the drywall.
the scope you mentioned seems cool but at this rate i might as well look into a wireless hdmi port now and forget the tube.

What kind of "flex line" are we talking about? Carflex, that a long run especially if you have bends. If car flex, I'm assuming it's one length and not spliced? Hard pipe for the win next time. Might get lucky with the fiber fish, good luck.

Fish tape like a mug. If you live around Thibodaux you can borrow mine.
