Nothing fancy, but I'm looking to put a stereo in my garage on shelf. AM FM radio/ auxiliary or Bluetooth also.

Want to run wires through attic down to speakers hanging in back porch patio.
Any suggestions to something on amazon possibly?

Again it doesn't have o be anything fancy.

I actually own a bose surround sound system that was a wedding gift, never opened. It's not a radio, meant to use with home entertainment system I guess.
So if needed I could wire these speakers to said stereo?

Buy any 2 channel receiver with Bluetooth. Or the cheapest you can find without bluetooth and then buy a $30-$50 bluetooth add on. Several companies make them.

That first link isn't something I would go with...looks like it is more for a car really. This looks decent for what you need and has Bluetooth built in. LINK. I just have an old receiver from college in my garage but don't have bluetooth. I may get something cheap like the link I posted...seems decent.

The speakers you linked look like they'll be fine. I have some outdoor speakers from BestBuy (Insignia brand I think) and they're not as powerful as your link but they're more than adequate.

Will the bluetooth reach that far?

I know its prob more $ than you want to spend but a sonos connect amp would work and would have easy control of it all with your phone.

Is there any kind of way to hook more than only the 2 patio speakers to that?
Maybe but 2 sets
Have a pair in the garage
And a pair in the patio?

Sorry, I misunderstood and had a brain fart. Like said earlier, you need a 2 channel receiver. LINK This one is cheap, 2 speaker outs, and Bluetooth. My Dad has a cheap Sherwood receiver outside on a big deck thing they have and it has been out there for about 2 yrs now and is fine. There are cheaper ones on Amazon probably but you may have to add a Bluetooth adapter.

The problem I see is the controlling of them. If that receiver has set A and set B...or a multi zone amp? I had my outside speakers hooked to zone 2 on a amp inside. It was a PITA to even get music running. This was a while back before I got into sonos. You can hook 4 speakers up to one sonos box but all 4 will play the same music at the same volume. So if thats ok to you then you can do garage/patio on one sonos connect amp. The thing I like about sonos is its so easy to get music running. All you need is your smart phone and about 5 seconds. It has all your music sources like pandora and spotify built into it.

I went to a pawn shop and looked for a cheap receiver. I bought a 4x speaker selector I think from Monoprice so that I could turn on and off my speakers that are on my back patio and the speakers in the work area of the garage. I've thought about running speakers outside by the driveway, but haven't done that yet. I recently came across a great deal on a chromecast audio. I recommend that over the bluetooth.

Could 4 speakers be hooked to this?

A pair in garage
And a pair on patio.

I'm not used to the speaker A/B selector being a single button. Not sure if it can power both sets of speakers at the same time, or if the button just switches between A and B. If this is important to you, you may want to do more research on it before buying.

I'm a total laymen
What's an AB selector

I really don't mind if all 4 speakers play the same exact thing same exact decibel all the time.

If you look at the back of the receiver, you will see 8 speaker terminals. The block of 4 on the left is the "A" set (L+ L- R+ R-). You would connect the wires going to the garage to those terminals. The block of 4 on the right is the "B" set for your patio speakers. Most receivers that I have seen either have a set of buttons (one button for A and one for B) that you push in if you want that set of speakers on or out for off. This allows you to have sound coming out of either the A set, B set, both, or neither. The other style I have seen is a selector dial that you turn to the left for A, right for B, or put in the middle for both.

The model you linked has a single button labled "A/B". Reading the user guide didn't give details how it works. It could either toggle back and forth between A and B, or toggle between A, B, AB.
