As the title says I’m closing on a house Nov. 1st and need some ideas for home audio.

This current house has old speakers in media room with an old projector and speakers outside on the outside patio area.

The old owner had switched to a Sonos sound bar for patio and living room with small Sonos in the billiards room, office and workout room. He also has 2 Sonos pool speakers with a Sonos amp by the pool. He’s using Bose speakers on stands and wall mounted Bose in the media room.

At my last house I did Klipsch with 5 8’s in my living room, 10 inch wall sub, 4 8’s outside in my patio ceiling and 4 6.5’s in my media room(never finished it). I left all my speakers at my last house but brought a Klipsch amp, Heos amp, and my Denon - AVR-X4800H receiver.

I’d like to use my current equipment and probably use some in the media room.

What kinda of setup would you do for the rest of the house?

What's your budget for the projector? I have an LG laser which has been pretty good. The Epson laser projectors seem to be a bit better right now. I think the model is LS1100, unless you're going for high end like JVC or Sony. I have an older Definitive setup that I would probably replace with SVS if I needed to.

Like to keep it under 2k. That will be the last thing I buy and will use the one they left me to make sure I even use the media room.

Epson 5050UB. On sale at BH photo right now. Very proven and should last longer than other brands.

I was checking out some of the Epson’s and they seem to get good reviews for a mid range unit.

I had to repair my LG after 2 years. The DMD chip started failing. LG wanted $700 to fix. I was able to do it myself for 3-400 for the part but it was not easy. Projectors seem to be the one piece of technology that does not advance quickly.

I know nothing about projectors. I usually buy a higher end Samsung every few years and upgrade my living room TV and put my living room TV in my bedroom.

I’ll have 11 to 12 TV’s and projector in this house so I’ll be buying some cheap shite to fill the other rooms

I may eliminate the kitchen and garage TV but if they leave the brackets I’ll put something cheap up.

I did A LOT of research when looking for an UST projector for my theater room. Wound up going with the AWOL Vision LTV-3500 Pro and it has been amazing; although I appreciate that's a bit above what you want to spend on one.

I’m not opposed to spending that much but I’ll have to make sure I’m actually going to use it first. That’s why I’m planing to get the audio set for the house, try out the theater room then buy something.

Totally makes sense.

I know a lot of folks in the projector community also have high hopes for the new Hisense-PX3-PRO, and I think in-depth reviews are starting to trickle out.
