Can anyone tell me what cables are needed for this built in home surround sound?
Just moved into a new house and have no clue how to hook up the surround sound. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like speaker wire terminals for banana plugs.

That looks like band equipment terminals.

Regular speaker wire is what you need, but you need to terminate it in banana plugs. Search Amazon if you are unfamiliar with the term- there are a ton of options. My favorite are Sewell Deadbolt plugs. They're a little more expensive, but they really "lock" much better and screw on easy from the design.
I've used plenty of the monoprice and amazonbasics plugs as well without any real difficulty, they just tend to be a little "cheaper" feeling and over time the tips unscrew if you move stuff around.
As you can see, you simple slip the speaker wire up from the back (there's an open hole), unscrew the top, fray the copper strands, then screw the top back on. Voila. Now your wire that you had to screw in has a fairly sturdy plug that can be inserted into those wall jacks.

Thanks!
Do you know if there are any converters that would connect this to an iPad/iPhone headphone jack? I know, not very sophisticated.

What specifically are you trying to do? What is connected to other end?

All I'm trying to do is get a cord that connect an ipad/iphone to the wall outlet pictured above - mainly so my wife can stop complaining about not being able to use the surround sound that is already installed.

No. Those plugs indicate that you have passive speakers. They need an amp in between. The headphone jack on your iPhone won't power them. You need a discreet amp that plugs into the wall.
It doesn't have to be fancy. Even just just a lepai 2020a+ with a 3.5mm-->rca adapter would work and be cheap.
That will only run two channels though. Most music isn't "surround"- just stereo (2 channels).

Nope. It's for banana plugs.

If your wife wants to use surround sound then you need a multi channel av receiver. Those are terminals for left, right and left and right rear channels most likely. You’ll need to add a speaker wire for the center channel.
