I have Adobe X and it no longer works as an add-on with Microsoft Office when they made me upgrade.

What's the best program for the money to be able to turn Office files into PDFs? I need to be able to combine files & mark-up. I don't need to be able to do too much 'fancy' stuff. It would be nice to be able to turn PDFs into office documents, but that's not necessary.

Would like to buy it one time and not a subscription.

Is Adobe still the way to go or are there better options out there?

See if printing to a PDF file gives you what you need. Just look for a printer with a name like "Print to PDF".

The latest versions of Office allow you to print and save directly as PDF files.

You should not need another program to do it.

As someone mentioned, Office docs to PDF is built in now. If you do need an actual PDF editor, FoxIt PDF Editor is a way better value than Adobe.

Help an old man out. Can I select a few files at once and combine them into one pdf with Office?

You would need to combine them in Office first to create one office document with the content you want, then save as pdf.

There are plenty of programs to do this. I use pdf expert or something like that. I don't remember the cost but it can create pdfs from word, combine them, etc.

Any google search will bring up lots of programs.

ETA: I can select multiple files and drag them to the program and it will create them. That's why I chose this one

In addition to your question using Office to make a PDF, you can combine individual PDFs with PDFill FREE PDF Tools, which is free.
I use it to combine individual PDFs of receipts for reimbursements.

I use Nuance and you can find licenses for DL for like $30-50. Don't get ripped off by a subscription service when there are plenty of hard copies of lifetime licenses in that price range.
