i don't have dish or DTV and Uverse is not an option where I live. I have cable and that won't be changin...

the distance from where the tv will be hung and where the cable box will be located on the other side of the wall is like 4 feet.

Cable doesn't have an app?

What are you realistically going to be watching on it?

Chromecast now with watchespn does 99.5% of what I want my outdoor tv to do.

I rarely even plug in the HDMI for dish these days.

College football games on a variety of channels...NFL games, Golf, The Golf channel, NFL Network, CSN Sports for Astros games.

I've had my TV outside for more than 2 years with no problems. It is under a patio and when not in use I cover it with a TV cover I found on Amazon. I also have an old surround sound system and Xbox (to connect to my media center pc) that I keep covered with old towels when they are not in use to keep the moisture and dust out. No problems on this end.

I am able to access everything including WatchEspn and all of my recorded content and live TV through the xbox which is connected to my home network with a MOCA connection through my cable wiring. I've been using Media Center for about 8 years and have had most of the 'new' functionality that Dish touts with its Hopper.

Edit: LINK this is a cover similar to what I have.

Best idea is to have an indoor media cabinet and then run cat 6 with a switch to hdmi.
