I take a lot of notes involving a lot of different stuff concerning work. Some info I take for my knowledge and other notes are to share in other meetings. I use multiple notebooks to keep things organized but that turns into thumbing through multiple books to find past notes. Looking for an E-Notebook so I can take notes on a single item.

I’ve looked at the Boox tablets but it has way more than I need. Don’t like that I have to pay a subscription with Remarkable to save notes. Any other recommendations?

I’d like:

Free storage
Paper like feel when writing (as close as possible)
Ability to search written notes
Ability to annotate pdf’s is nice but not a deal breaker

I have a Kindle Scribe, use it only for notes for work. It works great, I have it set up with different folders for field notes and desk notes. I like having the ability to email my notes to keep on my PC, nothing is lost.

It has all the features you require other than a search function, or at least I haven't found it yet.

Remarkable doesn’t place nice with corporate InfoSec. They tend to block the nonstandard apps needed to sync. It’s probably the easiest to use and the guys I know that have it swear by it.

My daughter uses her iPad for all her notes in class and is a huge fan. She uses a 3rd party pencil rather than super expensive Apple Pencil without issues.

I don't personally have experience, but this is what several of our people use.

I went with a Rocketbook, executive size. You can use things like ##client A## and when you use the app to take a picture of the page, and digitize it, it will automatically tag it with "client A."

You establish categories for what you want the output method to be (if you mark the "apple" on the page, that means you want it exported into OneNote, and categorized as "sports notes" etc.) If you mark a different icon on the page, that means it gets emailed as a PDF to your office email account, etc.

I gave up on convertible laptops, iPad pencils, etc.

I have a Scribe. I love it. The only thing I can't speak to in your desire list is the search function. I've never used it, so I don't know how effective it is with the handwriting, or if it even searches handwritten parts of your notes. I'm pretty meticulous in how I name and organize things, so I find things pretty easily.

I like that it doubles as a kindle e-reader and can email my notes (with the option of converting it to a text file). I use it in the field and it has held up really well.
