You have to add the Classic TV app from the amazon app store. It should then show up in your list of apps inside llama
*in order to get the xbmc or kodi logo per the linked YouTube video (on my last post), use ikono TV app as the dummy app instead of classic TV. Then when you go back to the adbfire.exe program, just go to llama options to link the 2 and change the logo

I just went from an ATV2 to the amazon fire tv (box) and couldn't be happier. You probably already know, but don't upgrade to Gotham 13.0 on the ATV2. Similar experience to other posters--fire tv is fast, and xbmc flies on it. Not sure why you'd really miss HBOGO if you've got xbmc anyway.
A few small problems so far: getting my harmony remote set up for the fire tv was tricky. If you have one, get a Flirc and read the entire support/FAQ sections of the website. It's all there.
Also, having trouble getting the fire tv airplay app and the xbmc airplay function to play nice. Not a deal breaker though.

jenny, what skin are you using? Never thought to change it on the ATV2, but that default TVMC skin is hilariously douchey. I'm digging Conq, very minimal and streamlined.

I'm using ACE right now and like it. But I haven't tried any others

I've tried a couple different skins, but have gone back to the default one, confluence

I am down to roku3 or amazon fire.
Tell me why I should choose one over the other
I have had a Roku 3 for over a year, and I just bought an Amazon Fire TV. The Fire TV is a more powerful box as far as the specs are concerned, and it does everything the Roku 3 does, plus the Amazon Fire will run XBMC/Kodi.
I will say that the Roku has a better layout and is probably more user friendly. If I was going to buy one for my Mom I would probably get her a Roku or Apple TV, but for the power user the Fire TV wins hands down.

Love my Fire TV. I've got a Roku 3 as well, but prefer the Amazon product. I haven't done much with it though as far as customization.

Try Pheonix. I'll test it tonight
I noticed Phoenix a few days ago and loaded it.
It works pretty well for streaming regular channels. I'm still testing it out.
I want to find a go-to sports app, but can't seem to find a good one yet.

So how is the Amazon Fire box better for Xmas as opposed to one of the other media boxes that are "dedicated" for it?

I don't know the answer to that. But personally, I'd rather an Amazon product and me install XBMC myself.

link. Thanks for the sports loader!! Been searching for a while.
This is a good question that will need time or other's experiences to determine.
A co-worker just ordered the Minix that should arrive Monday. I haven't seen anyone post about that platform so I'll try to relay his experience with that one.

Ohhh... The Xmas autocorrect threw me off
Good question. On paper the amazon fire TV's look more powerful than the dedicated players that Ive seen. Very happy with mine
