I currently use a Cyberpower UPS battery backup system for my pc to provide power during outtages, flickers, and mostly for surge protection. Has worked flawlessly for almost 5 years now. The batteries need to be replaced soon and I really wanted to switch over to Lithium battery instead of the Sealed lead-acid it has now. I have the part number and dimensions of the replacement batteries but I can't find any info about using Lithium of the same spec instead? Anybody have any knowledge on if this works as a direct replacement or what I would need to do ? Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Here is the unit I own: CyberPower BRG1500AVRLCD

Here is the battery they offer as replacement: RB1290 Sealed Lead-acid

I want to use something more like: Lithium Battery

I have knowledge on wiring, electrical, soldering, and the tools. I just don't know the ins and outs of charging between the different battery tech.

Ideas/Suggestions ??

Might be talking out my arse here but the lifepo4 batteries you linked look to be a drop in replacement. It says they will charge just fine with a regular lead acid charger, though it will only get them to about 90% capacity which is probably good enough. I think the UPS display and companion software (if applicable) might not indicate the battery SoC and load accurately because it won't be calibrated to a lithium SoC curve. Not sure how big a deal that will be.

Cheaper than the lead-acid replacement and free returns, I'd give them a shot.

yeah there are many Lithium battery options on Amazon that I've found in different Amp/Hour ratings for various costs. Pretty affordable.

I'm tempted to just build a UPS style system by hand with a bunch of batteries, BMS, and basically set it up to work just like the Backup systems you buy.

I upgraded my kids electric dirt bike from lead acid to lithium battery and it was a great upgrade. I bought the battery from this ebay seller. It looks like they have some of the same types of batteries you are looking for.
