I'm in the same boat. On paper, speeds are more than adequate. All other streaming services come in crystal clear and never pause or buffer.
WatchESPN this baseball season has been unwatchable for almost every game.

I just plugged the tv directly into the router. We'll see if that helps at all

Going wired seems to have helped some but it stills freezes every so often and im not getting better quality than standard definition. Going to try resetting the gateway I guess

I have mine plugged directly through my router (I have AT&T internet) and it will work fine for a batter or two, then gets blurry as shite and skip. I don't know what else to do, I guess call AT&T and get them to reset everything for me.

Well resetting the gateway doesnt seemed to have helped much...
Ive had uverse for several years and never had this issue. Hell it even worked as expected at the beginning of the season.

UPDATE: i wrangled with uverse support mon and tues. to their credit they did call me back today.
end result, i don't know what happened but, the quality today has been excellent. about what i would expect - no pauses and great resolution. that's what i'm paying for. i'll be checking it the rest of the week and watching this weekend of course.

i just did a test to confirm what i have always known. i have two, exact same model monitors on my computer. i played espn on both monitors simultaneously using google chrome. playstation vue website on one, espn website on the other. vue looks quite good. espn is HORRIBLE.
same thing on apple tv 4. playstation vue app looks good. espn app looks like garbage
i can't possibly be the only person experiencing this.

i noticed that espn on apple tv 3 looks much better than apple tv 4. i called apple and they said that they were responsible for the app programming on the apple tv 3 which makes sense because there are significantly fewer apps, typical of most apple products. however, they opened apple tv 4 up for more apps and had less q/c on the apps meaning, espn programmed the espn app for apple tv 4. so, back to espn again which sucks because they suck

I have no problems with WatchESPN on my FireTV.

another test i ran; i streamed espn through chrome from the espn website and playstation vue website simultaneously on the same computer, two identical model monitors. vue was nice. espn was crap.
i'm getting the impression that the espn computer programming team needs some training.

What's your internet speed?
Posted on 9/16/17 at 9:02 am to jdeval1
i just ran speedtest.net. 50 down, 5.5 up. way more than what is needed to stream espn. plus i get good results from apps/websites other than espn.
the reason why i'm on this is because i like to use the espn multicast feature from the espn app/website. unfortunately, it's only available from espn sources and their performance is so bad, the feature is very low quality and sometimes unwatchable.
