Why not save 2U space and go with 2 48 port switches?
he's got a 12 poe camera system, alarm system, backhauled poe APs and that tplink switch was on flash sale at amazon for $150 which is cheaper than than lower end units and its fanless so why not?
only one will live in the server closet in the basement/home theater area.
he and i were spit-balling ethernet port needs and we already were over 20 and that was just basic infrastructure stuff and doesn't include the PoE cameras which should plug directly into the back of the NVR so not counting them.

Nah, my robot vac does this. It can only connect to 2.4, not 5. So I have to make my router give me 2 SEPERATE networks. There is a feature that's supposed to bundle both 2.4 and 5, for products like this...but it still won't connect that way.

quote:i'll never understand why they don't do this right out of the gate; 99% of all smart home devices are 2.4 so there's not a week that goes by i'm not doing something that requires me to get on that network..at least for setup.

i remember eero had this weirdo thing where you could temporarily add a 2.4 network for like 10 minutes..so you could add devices. that was the dumbest shite ever. i can't count the # of times i got distracted during setup or ran into issues only to find the 2.4 had turned off again by the time i got to that step
stupid shite
