Yeah but IB is still enough. Don't reach great IPC gains until Skylake.
Edt: The issue comes from the other components not being upgraded.

This is part Intel's fault with their CPU delays.
Not really...
Intel has released Haswell, Broadwell, and Skylake chips since the last Macbook update.
EDIT: Granted, the performance difference between Haswell and Skylake isn't that big.

The Macbook was just updated in April. The non Retina Macbook Pro will never be updated again. If schools or whomever is buying these shitty computers keeps buying them, whatever. The Retina Pros, Airs, iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro are what I'm talking about.

Could Apple be ready to drop a bombshell and say they are moving their entire Mac lineup to their A-series processors and kick Intel to the curb? Could that be the reason for this inexplicable delay in updating the MacBooks?
Maybe. They harp on controlling key technological aspects of their products. That's why they started designing their own chips to begin with. With the A9X approaching intel's x86 performance it certainly is plausible. But x86 has so much built in support for things like thunderbolt that the A-series doesn't. On the other hand, A-series has the 'secure enclave' built in that x86 doesn't. It will be interesting if they pull it off. Not to mention they would go from paying intel $300-500 for CPUs to $30-50 ARM chips. That would give Mac gross margins a nice bump (like they need it).

You're right. Apple has no ecosystem whatsoever.
everything works almost seamlessly with everything else these days. Surface Pro + Windows 10 desktop is all I really need.
