It’s the biggest fricking pain in the arse - if you changed your phone number from when you originally signed up you are really going to go through hell trying to get it

Trying to retrieve it on my mom’s iPad. We have the username but can’t remember password. When she tries to use FaceTime it asks for Apple password. She’s been FaceTimimg for a couple of years now with this iPad and all the sudden asks to Sign In with Apple password.

Hope you have access to an Apple device to recover it.
I was on Android for years, didn’t have any apple devices to reset it. I had to recover from Apple directly and it took over a month. I was furious.

I fricking hate that shite. Why have Face ID linked to your phone but then ask you for a password. And when you try to reset it. There are a bunch of rules on what it can be but they don’t tell you. Lately when it ask me and I don’t remember, it ask for my passcode then let’s me reset it. Not sure why that one isn’t
