I think Apple fricked up by not making a regular MacBook that is thicker and cheaper. Think late 2000's white MacBooks but offer a few colors.

Should just be the MacBooks and rMBPs.

They had the MacBook Pro non retina for years, with the disk drive to fill that space.... it was discontinued today.

It is disappointing that there isn't an all-new budget laptop, but for now they're still selling the MacBook Air that received updated internals in April for $999. It'll just be left to wither on the vine in the future.

They've done this before and always come back to fix that "~$1200 normal computer" gap in the lineup. When the Air was brand new it was pushing $2k with really lackluster specs.

I totally agree that the "base" Pro should be $1300, not $1500. But at $1500 they're really just pushing people (me) to the $1800 Touch Bar model. Once you look at the upgraded processor, graphics, number of ports, and other internals there's much more value there, even if you place no value in the touch bar (me).

Long time apple/mac fan.... i recently picked up the 12 inch MacBook for myself and love it.

Somewhat disappointed in today's releases. My wife needs a new laptop, I'll just get her the previous generation MacBook Pro 13 inch refurbished as it's a way better value.

The new entry level MacBook Pro 13 without the touch strip should be $1299, not $1499.

Agree, although I think a lot of former MBP users (like myself) can get by with the 12 inch MacBook if they try it.

It's a little deceiving, because I really haven't found anything it can't do for me. Granted it's not for really heavy use, but it runs clunky Mac Office and Lightroom just fine. Keyboard will stick, so buy canned air.

No Esc key on the new MacBook Pro...Vim users pissed.

Actually, you can assign the Esc key functionality to another key.
