I just installed a set of Focal ES Power series components in my car. I can not recommend these things enough. I haven't even hooked them to an amp or my 3Sixty.3 DSP yet and they already sound amazing.

I used to but haven't pulled the stock stereo out of my last 2 vehicles. I have a bunch of 12 volt stuff in a closet from my days in the industry. Figured one day I'll have a toy to put this crap in but for now new vehicles set ups are fine for me.

I had some Morel Ultimo subs but I sold them. My ID's sound just as good. I wanted to try Focal but I'm not an OT baller.

You are thinking about loud boom cars. I'm talking about sound quality cars. I like listening to a lot of classical music and hearing every detail in it. I'm not referring to rattling people's homes windows as you drive down the road. Big difference.

The B & O system in my wife's Audi is pretty sweet. The tweeters even motorized and pop out of the dash when you power the car on.

I play my music via bluetooth streaming.

How likely is it upgrading will improve SQ with bluetooth?

Bluetooth streaming is not ideal for SQ. It is hindered by a limited bit rate data transfer so you lose some quality.

Crutchfield has them for around $800 a set, but if you do your homework (and do not buy from a dealer based anywhere in Asia) you can get them for less than half that off eBay. You just have to be careful as there are a lot of fake Focal speakers out there.

Morel makes some good stuff. Subs sound quality is very hard for a lot of people to distinguish a difference in. Unless you are putting a Legacy sub next to a Morel or Focal. Humans can't distinguish a lot about frenquencies below 100 hrtz.

Yep. It's usually one of the first things I change out when I get a car. When I got my 550i in 2013, I immediately put in:

Morel Elate in front
Morel Hybrid in rear
JL TW5 in right rear of trunk
JL XD 300/1
McIntosh MC431M
Helix DSP

I left the 8 inch mid bass drivers under the seats alone.

I am an audiophile junkie at home and in the car. The setup is still going strong 3 years later.

I've got the Focal 4" components in the dash and the tweeters in the A pillars right now. I'm trying to keep everything looking like factory. I am about to build some kick panels to house some 6.5" midbase old school Fosgates from the Q series components that I had years ago. Those things handle a ton power and put out great sounding midbase and have a low enough volume requirement that I can build sealed kickpanels big enough for them without drastically changing the factory look. Also putting a 12" sub custom fiberglassed into the spare tire well so I'm not giving up trunk space. Going active crossovers through the fosgate 3Sixty.3 DSP to all speakers and running them off 2 Zapco 4 channel amps. I'm going to mount the amps and DSP behind a beauty wall to make it all look nice and neat.

I use to have an SPL vehicle I entered in competition. Thing would hit 162 decibels on the dash, but that was in my much younger days. Now I enjoy the clarity and precision of music more than just loudness.

Yeah I know, but I'm just not giving up the ease of use.

Wish I could tell how much extra I could get out of modest upgrades, but I don't want to spend the money only to find it's still largely the same due to BT.

Trunk flex? Jesus man, Second Skin the hell out of the trunk. Will give you another 6 decibels easy.
