Anyone out there excited about them finally starting deliveries this Friday?
I put down a deposit day one. Hopefully I'll know an eta for delivery soon.

My dad has one down.
Estimated delivery next summer.
When he test drove in Dallas, said it's the closest to flying without being in a plane, that he's ever experienced.

How do these reservations work? First paid, first given?
Also, the car has a pretty huge price variation, so how do you work out what features you are getting (did this when paying deposit or figured out later?) and how it will be paid for?
I imagine there will be lots of people who put a down payment that won't be able to get financing for the entire price.

It's a mess trying to figure out the order.
When you put down a deposit/reservation (which is $1000) that just gets you a spot in line. This is fully refundable at any time. Hopefully this friday all the build options and pricing will show up. I think then another 1000 is due when you configue that is not refundable.
Ordering is mostly 1st come 1st serve but they are starting deliveries on the west coast and working their way east, but haven't said for how long they will prioritizing that. Also they are building just RWD first and the larger battery packs so those that want all wheel drive or the smaller battery will have to wait.
I will spring for the larger battery and I'm fine with RWD so I think that gives me a good chance to get it by the end of the year

But I didn't jump on board right away so I expect to get mine in about 2037.

Yes that's true too. I'm not sure how long that's for. I wonder if a current tesla owner who ordered a week after the reveal will be able to jump me or not. They haven't said where the cut off is.
I'm optimistically hoping not. The main reason for west coast to east coast and current owners first is to control if there are any build quality issues. But there were over 130000 reservations the first day. If they are still having issues after 130k cars delivered they are in serious trouble.
Most tesla owners I've spoken with are holding out for the AWD which will not be built until spring of 2018

I have a dual motor S and I've driven a number of single motor S's. There's just that little extra torque with dual motors that made the single motors seem sluggish in comparison. Keywords: in comparison. Still extremely fun to drive.
Depending on budget and time constraints, I would recommend holding out for the dual motor as well

Got my invite yesterday. Super pumped! Delivery in 3 to 6 weeks

Lol I was about to post what I posted last July, not recognizing this thread from back then. The 3’s are getting more noticeable out here in California in the last several months.

Did you do the $49k version then? My delivery moved back to early next year as I’m still just looking at the base for my wife.
ETA: I’ve been on the list since April 1, 2016

Yeah I went with LR battery, premium interior, areo wheels, no autopilot stuff and midnight silver. So it came in at $50k.
I wanted to wait on the white interior but I don't think I would be able to get it before September and the tax credit will half by then.

That's what pisses me off is no chance at the full credit early next year. But I'm not gonna spend $15k+ just to get things I don't need to save an additional $3,750.
ETA: Not saying it's a bad upgrade, just not for me. We live on an island and can only drive so far
