Antenna Coax to HDMI

I’m looking for help on what to buy to convert my coax coming in from my antenna to an hdmi port that I can plug into my receiver. Unfortunately my receiver does not have a spot to plug in a coax cable and I’m trying to cut the cord. TIA

Are you trying to get the audio off your antenna ???
You need to come out the audio out on the TV into the receiver, depending on your equipment there are probably a few ways to do it.

The Coax needs to go into a tuner first.
So probably your TV is the best solution and run the sound out to your receiver as the other response suggested.
Digital optical if both your TV (likely) and receiver (hard to say on that) can handle that, otherwise the standard RCA cable.
Hope that helps.

Yea, for simplicity sake (so my wife and kids don’t have to go into between sources on the tv) I’d like it to come out of the wall and into the receiver. I was going to buy a SD to HDMI converter but I’m not sure that’d work. I’d have to also buy something that converts the end of the co-ax to sd.

I think you need something like that if you don't want to use the tuner built into your TV. Your receiver probably doesn't have a built in tuner. That thing might make your remote situation a little frustrating.
You might also want to look into a HD HomeRun. It's not exactly what you're looking for but they can make cord cutting a lot easier. LINK

He needs to do it right and go through a device (TV) with a tuner. Otherwise it’s a kludge and not something I’d trust.

I agree. Everyone will figure out how to watch TV if it's important to them. Especially kids.
There are some TV's without tuners though. I think Vizio removed them for a year or two.

A coax cable doesn't just carry a video signal like an HDMI cable. It's carrying an entire spectrum of channel space, and you need a device called a tuner to actually tune channels from that. Almost all TVs have a tuner, which is why you can plug a coax cable into them and pick channels, but some TVs are sold without them now. They do not make receivers with tuners built in, so you need to figure out a different way to accomplish what you want. Basically, if you don't want/can't plug the antenna into your TV, you'll need to purchase an external tuning box like a TiVo or HDHomeRun device.

Thanks everyone! I’ll look into a tuner or just have to deal with running it through the tv.
