2019 Dell XPS 8930 - $1200 on Amazon
It's got a bunch of ports, which aren't necessary but I like it. same with the DVD/RW (I still get discovery on CDs).
I'm going to be using it as my primary office computer which will likely involve video editing.
Comparable new from Dell is like $1600-1700.

youve got $650 just in the processor and gcard with that build . Looks like a decent deal, only negative is a factory MB

yeah but it's a high-end Dell so I'll roll the dice there. should make it easy to work on if necessary
also the I/O is really good
i think it's expandable as well

its a good deal, they are just selling off old stock. 8th gen CPU and 10 series GTX.

It's a good PC, just out dated (especially the graphics card) and not worth $1200. Here's something that would absolutely smash it
And there's absolutely no reason to be paying more then $10 for windows

Outdated and overpriced

You're boot disc isnt even pirated. You can create boot drives within windows free of charge.
But I was mostly replying to a poster saying that you'd save $100 not having to buy windows with the PC in OP

i actually found a similar build on Lenovo for cheaper with the 9th gen i7
i'm now looking at my own build but if i do it it's going to have thunderbolt 3 and that severely limits my MB options, which even more severely (apparently) limits my processor options ( i think there is only one MB with TB3 that is compatible with AMD)

Lenovo = Chinese spyware. Avoid anything branded under a company wholly owned by a Chinese entity.
People are missing the forest for the trees on the machine in the OP.
Is it last gen tech? Yes. Does that matter AT ALL for the use case? Of course not.
Is it cheaper to build your own vs buy? Usually, almost always actually, yes. But when you build, you are responsible for the warranty on every individual part and the troubleshooting necessary to determine which part failed. How proficient are you at that? How much is your time worth?
Buying is almost always the preferable option to building when it comes to office / home office solutions.

3rd party reseller sites like kinguin. Legit license, usually either meant for a specific region or they are excess corporate keys. Really kind of a grey area but no risk to the end user.

There's not really much need for TB3 on a desktop due to the mass amounts of I/O.
And there are a ton of motherboards now that have TB3 included.
Or just buy a TB3 expansion card down the road when you decide you'll need TB3
Oh the greatness that is a desktop PC
