I keep my airpods in their case in my car. Recently my phone has started randomly connecting to them. For example, I can be sitting in my office talking on my cell phone and it will connect to my airpods and my conversation gets muted until I can disconnect. Then a minute later it will connect again. This never happened before the latest update. Any ideas to make this stop other than forgetting the device? Thanks.

Seems like you should "forget" the device and then reconnect. Reboot your phone after the FORGET and do a clean, new connect.

This makes me think your case/AirPods needs to be cleaned. Seems like it is losing connection to the case and auto connecting to your phone.
