Adobe Creative Cloud is the plague - can't remove it

I have an older version of photoshop that works great. I also uploaded the creative cloud, which includes photoshop.

When I open Firefox, the Cloud goes berserk and the computer runs hard as it apparently activates all the various CC components (according to task manager). So, I try to remove the program. I can't. The best I can get it to do is take me to the "update" page - but I don't want to update that crap, I want it gone.

So, I have to stop about six adobe CC related processes every time I open firefox.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
