Had a friend who's wife just passed away last night from a brain hemorrhage. He's struggling to contact people and family and doesn't have access to her iPhone password to get past the log in screen.

Is there a way to access phone? Thanks.

Man, that is rough.

Unfortunately, unless your friend happens to have her iCloud password (maybe written down somewhere or saved in a password manager), there really isn't much that can be done.

If he does have access, he could at least access the contacts that are synced - IF they're synced.

First off, that sucks about his wife.

If she had a computer with iTunes, she may have a somewhat recent backup on there. Resetting the phone and backing up the data from the computer would be the easiest way.

This sounds terrible, but can the coroner hold it up to her face?

I went through the same scenario when my wife passed and I feel for the man. I didn't even know who provided our electricity.
I telling all y'all. Sit down with your significant other and write down all the usernames and passwords for everything. And for you younguns, keep the list updated.

You can now enter legacy contacts on Apple devices, so your partner or someone else can contact apple and get access to your devices when you die.

If she didn't do that, you have to go through the court system to get access.
