$5,000 in tech gear taken from overhead bin on a flight.

No real reason in posting this other than I need somewhere to vent and am sick to my stomach about.
Flying home for Christmas from Colombia to USA.
I fell asleep on the flight and when the plane started deboarding I noticed my stuff was gone.
I was like a deer in the headlights....

Damn, that is awful! Did you tell anyone with airline? The airport has to have cameras of the person walking away with said bag.

Yep. Alerted the flight attendant as soon as I noticed. We filed a police report but she said not to get my hopes up.
Just sick about it.

I have no idea how you could have slept so soundly on a flight that someone could take all that stuff from the overhead bin above you.

Probably limits on that if he was using that stuff professionally. Hopefully he had an Articles Policy to cover the specific stuff he lost.

These are my thoughts as well, but does any of this stuff really happen in real life for the common folk? It's a lot of dang gear though!

They could figure it out but the reality is that in most major cities the police ignore property crime.

Probably too late now but if it was online and you had it enabled you could have tried the find my phone thing. Even if you didn't have data there it may have still had the wifi saved. Or possibly could have tried to call it.
