Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a 10" android tablet for a gift. I've had good success with Samsung tablets in the past, but looking for other opinions/experiences. Any suggestions or shopping advice would be appreciated. Having an SD card slot is a (big) plus. Budget is around $200ish +/-.

Thank you.

I'm not a Samsung fan necessarily (I have a Pixel) but their tablets are probably the best option. They seem to run better and run better for longer.

Had a horrendous experience with an ASUS tablet a long time ago--even though I still like their routers.

Lenovo at one time was in the game, they may still be. Might be worth checking out.

Then there's tons of no-names, store brands, knock offs, etc.

You can get a 10" samsung tablet for 200 bucks. I'd go with that. I have one from 4 years ago that isn't getting updates but it's still fine.

Amazon tablets are decent. The 10" 32 / 64 GB models are $150 / $190 respectively.

The Chromebook Lenovo Duet may be worth checking out. No SD card and a little over your $200 budget. It does include free 100 GB Google cloud storage and USB-C storage is probably more future proof/flexible than SD cards.

As of this posting, they are on sale until Sunday at BestBuy/Target for $179. We went and got one earlier today.

Samsung - Galaxy Tab A7 10.4" Wi-Fi 32GB

I'll throw in a case and a 128/256 GB SD card and should be good to go.
