Yeah. The idea is one sound. I have two different brand TVs so one remote won’t operate both TVs (it’s a real pain in the arse), so definitely wouldn’t get the same brand sound bars. I was thinking about two sound bars if one wouldn’t work originally and having one on mute
So the update is I spoke to a Manager at Best Buy in audio section and he said what I thought. Even though there are different inputs, it will connect to the hdmi arc automatically if also connected to optical. (Connecting to aux or Bluetooth in not a problem.) Splitting wouldn’t help because it still wouldn’t know what tv to connect to. So I’m doing what I did at my other house and using a receiver and wiring speakers. Its easy to have video 1 and video 2. Thx for suggestions

I would contact customer support at sound bar manufacturers and talk with them about what you want to do. No offense to Best Buy but they generally don’t know shite.

I ran into a similar situation that might help
I was having a NYE party at my house a few years ago. Wanted the college football games to be on but also wanted to have music
I have a klipch sound bar that has multiple inputs that is regularly hooked to the TV and plays whatever is on there. I hooked up a chromecast music to stream the music and left the TV hooked up as is and changed the input selection. Worked no problem

What input was chromecast hooked up to?

I plugged the 3.5mm into an RCA adapter

Gotcha. I could see that working and not "confusing" the sound bar with 2 digital signals coming in. Thx

good to know that we weren't all crazy..I guess having the two digital inputs makes sense..

I wasnt doubting that the sound bar couldn't play from different inputs. Was just saying it wouldn't play optical and hdmi. I'm gonna check out the sound quality using the aux input. Hopefully there isn't much of a difference. Thx again!
