U17s play Honduras at 3:30 central today.

We are in a group with Honduras and Cuba. Top 2 teams qualify for the WC. Honduras already beat Cuba 6-0. A win today pretty much guarantees that we make the WC.

Even a draw today means we qualify as long as we don't lose to Cuba.

I know U15 tournaments mean very little but winning a tournament with Italy, Portugal, and England is great. The current u17 team won this tournament also and they are top notch. I think it's safe to say that we haven't had this level of success throughout our youth system in it's existence. Good to see Claudio's son doing well. He's one of the top players in the MLS academy system for New York.

Sargent scores his 4th goal of the tournament to put the US up 1-0.

Carleton is making a complete fool of Honduras. Dribbled through about 8 defenders in the box, took a shot but was deflected for a corner.

3-0 final

Honduras concedes 3 while playing a 6 man back line. Could have been even more than that too.

Just don't lose by 5 to Cuba on Friday and we're safely in.

What are the chances Sargent can get a call-up to the U-20 squad for the World Cup?

Zero, I believe. I don't think he was on the list that was submitted, but I could be wrong.

Has the prelim roster been released yet? All I've heard is that Zelalem left VVV for the u-20 camp and that Tab said Pulisic is on it, but obviously would be a long shot to play. Haven't seen the actual roster though.

I thought it was, because I saw the articles about Pulisic being on it, but it might not have been. I'd prefer if he wasn't on the team.

I doubt he will. It seemed like the only chance for him was if BVB missed out on the Pokal final which takes place during the U-20 group stages.

I was referring to Sargent.

Why not? Not saying he should be handed a starting job by any means but he could certainly hold his own.

I'm sure he'd do fine for the most part, but let the guys that are in the age group and guys that have been with the team through this cycle get that opportunity. Sargent will get his chance at the WC this October. Plus, he'd pretty much have to leave the U17 team and go straight to the U20 camp. Let the 17 year old go home for a little bit. I mean, the first U20 game is May 22. Let's assume the team gets to Korea on the 15th. Sargent may have the play in the U17 final on May 7 in Panama.

And looking at the forwards that are likely to be on the roster, who would you leave off to add Sargent?

You can only take 21. At the CONCACAF championships, we took Craft, Ebobisse, Gonzalez, Lennon, Lewis, and Sabbi. You can also add Akale, Mansaray, Vazquez, and Young.
